Commercial Enterprise Course

The combined UDT Commercial Enterprise course is aimed towards qualifying companies and organisations from basic drone awareness to complete commercial compliance with the CAA, and the use of Pix4D mapping software. Industries currently using drone solutions that will benefit from this course include, but are not limited to:

The course is broken down into four learning modules and will take approximately seven days of training. This can be done in an integrated 7-day training package or a modular format to suit the time-frames of your business operations:

We provide interim support, coaching and mentorship throughout the process and the attendance courses are fully supported by an online E-Learning system. By the end, you will have everything you need to use a drone effectively within your business, gaining immediate value and commercial deliverables and benefits.

Day 1: Ground School

Day 1 of the Uplift Drone Training theory course will cover the following subjects that meet and exceed the CAA recommended syllabus:

  • Air Law
  • Maps and Charts
  • Airspace
  • Meteorology
  • Aircraft

Day 2: Ground School

Day 2 introduces exciting new subjects that will expand your knowledge of drone operations and prove invaluable in your career:

  • Airmanship
  • Human Factors
  • Operating Procedures
  • Ops Manual
  • Pricing Jobs
  • Revision
  • Test

Day 3: Flight Training

Flight training is conducted with our qualified flying instructors, to apply the key principles of flying and the skills needed to be confident and safe during operation of the unmanned aircraft. The flight training consists of:

  • Basic site set up.
  • Drone and the use of all checklists and flight procedures.
  • Basic operation of GPS, ATTI mode, including the benefits of intelligent flight modes and autonomous systems.

Day 4: Flight Test

The flight test will be conducted with one of our flight examiners under test conditions and is broken down in to two sections:

  • Planning
  • Flight Skills and Control

Day 5: OSC Reduced Distance

To operate with reduced distance separation compared to what the standard Permission for Commercial Operations allows (i.e. less than 50m), you have to submit an Operational Safety Case Volume 3.

This OSC is submitted in addition to Volume 1 and 2 along with supporting evidence in an application to the CAA for a reduced distance PfCO.

Day 5 contains industry expert guidance gained from experienced consultants over multiple successful OSC applications, to greatly improve your chances of approval.

Day 6: Pix4D Mapping

Day 6 introduces the Pix4D photogrammetry software and you will:

  • Understand what photogrammetry is.
  • Know and understand the phraseology used within Pix4D.
  • Understand how to create a data set of images with reliable geo-referencing.
  • Identify the technical and environmental limitations affecting the use of photogrammetry data capture.
  • Be able to operate Pix4D capture app.

Day 7: Pix4D Mapping

By the last day of the construction course you will have a full understanding of Pix4D and be able to:

  • Create a 3D Model.
  • Set scaling within a processed data set.
  • Understand where to use manual tie points and why.
  • Understand some of the file outputs that can be exported to offer data platforms.
